According to the AXA Mind Health Report 2025, a striking 80% of workers in Hong Kong report multiple factors affecting their mental health. Key issues include uncertainty about the future, financial instability and job insecurity, challenges in achieving a healthy work-life balance, and feelings of loneliness. Notably, work-related stress is particularly acute, impacting 60% of employees, compared to a global average of 56%


The consequences of work-related stress are profound. An alarming 84% of the workforce indicated that stress interferes with their daily lives. This stress manifests in various ways, including:

  • Sleep disturbances 

  • Decreased motivation 

  • Physical symptoms such as headaches and muscle tension 

  • Mood swings or irritability 

  • Difficulties concentrating 

  • Changes in appetite 

These statistics highlight the urgent need for effective strategies to mitigate stress and promote employees' mental well-being.

Managing Work-Related Stress:


Practice Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques

  • Mindfulness Meditation: Spend a few minutes each day practicing mindfulness meditation to help center your thoughts and reduce anxiety.

  • Deep Breathing Exercises: Use deep breathing techniques to calm your mind during stressful moments. Inhale deeply for four counts, hold for four counts, and exhale for four counts.


Establish Boundaries

  • Set Clear Work Hours: Define your work hours and stick to them. Avoid checking emails or working outside these hours to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

  • Get Enough Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Proper rest is essential for mental clarity and stress management.
